Why choose Camp Thunderbird? Why choose Camp Thunderbird

Every day is packed with fun, friends, and adventure! Not only that, at Thunderbird, you get to choose your activities each day. Where else could you choose to play soccer, blacksmith, horseback ride, and water ski all in the same day? Surrounded by friends from all across the United States and around the world, you’ll have a blast every moment of every day.

For many campers, staff and alumni, going away to Thunderbird feels like coming home. Thunderbird is a place where cabin mates and counselors become like family, friendships last a lifetime and adventure happens everyday. At Thunderbird, kids learn more than just how to rock climb, sail, shoot a bow and arrow or throw a pot on the wheel; they learn how to be independent, resilient and confident. Why choose Thunderbird? Choosing Thunderbird means becoming part of our family, rich in tradition and the spirit of friendship.

Who Are Thunderbird Campers?

Where Do Our Campers Come From?

There is no typical Thunderbird camper. At Thunderbird, you can always be yourself. Our campers come from over 30 states and 90 different suburbs from across the US and five countries from around the world. Every cabin has a mix of campers from different cities, states, and countries, all ready to create a new circle of friends and unforgettable memories. And, whether you're an athlete or a performer, an adventurer or an artist, the more than thirty activities we offer daily will provide you a chance to focus on your favorites or try something completely new and exciting.

Thunderbird campers always strive to do their best in any contest, but never at the cost of good sportsmanship or friendship. We believe that life at home can be competitive enough, so games and tournaments at Thunderbird are for fun and always friendly. Our campers also look forward to camp as a place to learn about themselves, expand their interests, develop new skills and make new friends. Campers leave Thunderbird with greater self-confidence, more independence, and powerful friendships.
